Action Alert! RIF’s Funding Needs Support in the Senate
Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), the largest and oldest children’s literacy organization in the U.S., has been eliminated from the President’s proposed FY11 budget. Without federal funding, more than 4.4 million children and families will not receive free books or reading encouragement from RIF programs.
Last month, RIF began building support in the House of Representatives with a Dear Colleague letter expressing support for its funding. More than 70 members have signed on to date!
Now a similar letter is circulating in the U.S. Senate and we want you to contact your senators and urge them to sign the RIF Dear Colleague letter. A template statement is provided and your message will be sent directly to senators. Simply enter your zip code. It will only take a few minutes to help make a lasting impact. Act now: RIF.org/saverif
