Stress Free Test Taking: Tips for Parents from Parents
Tips from the #KaplanKids Twitter Party on how to help kids feel more confident and less stressed about test-taking:
“How do you help your kids calm test-day jitters?”
- @JanetandMaya: Stay calm myself.
- @tdahaam: talking through any nerves to calm her down help a lot!
- @assia00: Making sure they get enough sleep the night before, have a healthy hearty breakfast and get to school on time.
- @lanieekat: a good nights rest and eating regular meals is so important
- @nikkialeta: make sure the kids know whats upcoming, better prep makes a difference!
- @paulakap8: I practice alot with them spelling words etc
- @cookiesANDclogs: Pretests and review help a lot as well
- @JanetandMaya: Practice taking tests so its “just one more” test.
- @JoeyfromSC: I’d always tell them to take their time on tests, and to go back over if they finish early!!
- @cookiesANDclogs: Just to try their best and not frustrated - finish with a big hug
- @JanetandMaya: Make a test seem fun - like a game.
- @honeyrose80: I pack a little you can do it note and a cute sticker in their backpacks.
- @nikkialeta: maybe a sweet treat in thier lunchbag
- @ConnieFoggles: Teach positive self talk
